Farms and Fresh Air

This past weekend I attended the Harvest Festival at Shelburne Farms and I also went apple picking at Shelburne Orchards.  This was the first weekend of my senior year where I was able to spend some great time at the farm as well as pick some of my very own apples.

Every since I was a little girl I always loved going apple picking.  It was something that my parents did with my sister and I every year and I just loved it!  I went apple picking with my boyfriend and this is certainly not the first time that we have gone together.  I was able to pick tons of great apples and I also was able to get some cider donuts and apple cider.  I love going apple picking because I love making apple crisp after I go.  My mom always makes apple crisp for me when I'm home and now I am going to make it for myself!

The Harvest Festival was another great part of my weekend.  It was great to see some wildlife and it was a great way to see the farm as a whole.  Also, there was some awesome food there.  There was grilled corn, mac and cheese, brick oven pizza, soup, ice cream, and crapes.  I also had the best time trying to make my very own head piece that was made out of old stickers, flowers, and brush that you would find in a field.  Before going to the festival I stopped at the Shelburne Farms store and got my fix with all of their wonderful cheeses.  I am a cheese lover and I can't ever get enough cheese!  My favorite is their 6 month aged Cheddar and their sun dried tomato cheese spread.  Everything about Shelburne Farms is great!

For those who were not able to make it to the Harvest Festival or apple picking find some time to go to both!
